The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) announced a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar on 10 October 2026, demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Fact: The viral video dates back to 16 October 2025 and shows a heated exchange between Jharkhand High Court judge Justice Rajesh Kumar and advocate Mahesh Tiwari, not a confrontation with the Chief Justice of India over the CJP protest against CEC Gyanesh Kumar. The exchange occurred during court proceedings concerning a widow whose electricity connection had been disconnected over outstanding dues. The Jharkhand High Court initiated criminal contempt proceedings against Tiwari, which were later dropped after the court accepted his unconditional apology. Hence, the claim made in the post is Misleading.
A reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led us to several media reports (here, here, and here) featuring the same visuals from October 2025. According to these reports, a heated exchange took place between Jharkhand High Court judge Justice Rajesh Kumar and Advocate Mahesh Tiwari on 16 October 2025, following which the court initiated criminal contempt proceedings against Tiwari. The proceedings were being streamed live when the incident occurred.
The incident began when a lawyer sought relief for his client, a widow whose electricity connection had been disconnected over outstanding dues of Rs 1.30 lakh. Justice Kumar questioned the manner in which the lawyer was seeking relief and explained how the matter should be argued in accordance with court ethics. He also said that the Bar Council chairman should take note of the lawyer’s conduct. Tiwari, who had been standing at the back of the courtroom, then joined the argument, stepped forward and pointed at the judge.
A report published by NDTV on 23 January 2026 stated that the Supreme Court, led by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant, criticised Advocate Mahesh Tiwari for challenging the criminal contempt proceedings initiated against him by the Jharkhand High Court. The Supreme Court asked the High Court to take a sympathetic view if Tiwari apologised. Subsequently, a report published by The Indian Express on 19 February 2026 stated that the Jharkhand High Court dropped the contempt proceedings after accepting Tiwari’s unconditional apology. The High Court observed that an advocate with more than 40 years of legal practice was expected to exercise greater restraint and was as much an officer of the court as the presiding judge.

To sum up, an unrelated courtroom exchange video is shared, showing a lawyer confronting the CJI over the CJP protest against Gyanesh Kumar.
